Why Oral Surgery

When Dr. Slater went to dental school, he originally went with the notion of becoming a general dentist. However, after the end of his first semester, he realized that he happened to be at the top of his class and that he would have the opportunity to specialize. His wife, Kim, and him discussed it and decided that it would be best for them and their family if he went on to specialize. The only specialty that ever interested him was oral and maxillofacial surgery since this specialty allows a full scope of practice - everything from hospital-based treatments to dental implants and extractions. Dr. Slater says, "It's been an extraordinarily rewarding path for me!"
