Why Oral Surgery
Dr. Read actually chose to go into dentistry without knowing much about the practice. He says that back in high school, he was sitting at the kitchen table with his mother and chose oral surgery because it was "all about working with your hands and helping people" and that appealed to him. After practicing as a general dentist for several years, Dr. Read eventually went back and specialized as an oral surgeon because it was most interesting to him. He says that he loves oral surgery now. It's challenging and he loves seeing patients!
Favorite Part of Practicing at Tennessee Valley Oral Surgery
Dr. Read's favorite part of practicing at Tennessee Valley Oral Surgery is that he feels the freedom to treat patients the way that is best for them, without the pressure to "sell" that sometimes can exist for providers in healthcare. He loves that he can treat patients in a way that is best for them, since there's not "one size fits all" in healthcare or oral surgery, he is able to put together specialized treatment plans that allow patients to get the most value based on their personal situation. He is able to treat every patient as he would a family member and give them the best care possible.
